My Producer, Tommy Faragher, to have #1 Billboard Single Next Week for GLEE Version of “Teenage Dream”

It’s been an incredibly exciting week for those of us who have worked with Tommy Faragher. His production work on the song “Teenage Dream” which was popularized by Katy Perry and debuted on the Emmy award winning TV show GLEE, has led to a rocket ship that has shot the single up to the top of the Billboard singles chart! In addition, the sales are estimated (by those who follow these things) to be the best sales ever for a song from the GLEE TV show. So, it’s going to be official next week, Tommy Faragher will have the #1 Billboard single. The song features lead vocals by Darren Criss, who is rumored to be joining the cast of GLEE beyond this debut performance last week.

As I type, the song has over 1 million hits on YouTube! See it here!

BILLBOARD STORY

HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

THIRD AGE

Tommy Faragher has had a long career in music, and his early work with the movie Staying Alive and artists such as Taylor Dayne, the OJay’s, Al Green, were just the beginning of a long career behind the mixing board. A lot of people don’t realize Tommy Faragher is a singer in his own right and had his own career as a recording artist, first with The Faragher Brothers and later as a solo artist (the song Look Out for Number One). There is a great video of Tommy singing on Solid Gold on YouTube. LINK TO YOUTUBE. He has several songs on the Sondtrack album for Staying Alive, which led to his Grammy nomination.

I worked with Tommy over a 7 year period, co-writing the songs on my debut album “Night Flight to London” and then of course, he produced all the tracks. It’s such a thrill to hear his signature style in the “Teenage Dream” single. It’s got his name written all over it. At one point, after listening to the single on my iphone for 4 days, I started to hone in on the harmonies in the background. Once I really heard them, I was hooked one more time to a song I can’t keep the play button off of!

Such a nice guy..Tommy Faragher. Talented and low key. I’ve met a lot of people in the music business over the years and Tommy is one of the “good” ones!

Congratulations to Tommy Faragher! Well done! Well deserved. I’m so proud of him!

21 Days & The Grammy’s

Posted in Debut CD with tags , , , , , , , on January 31, 2010 by Jennie Walker

It’s Sunday and that means the Grammy’s are on tonight!

I have been watching the Grammy pre-show event on the internet tonight as I prepare to see the prime-time show later. I’ve been to the Grammy’s….once, the time I attended it was in New York City. It was interesting, but it was clear to me from my experience that the best way to attend the Grammy’s was as a nominee. So, I have not been back in person, instead, enjoying the show from home and working on my music.

Now, as a little girl, I used to watch the Grammy’s. I remember watching Barbra Streisand, hearing her sing and wondering how to get there from here….here being my living room, sitting with my mother and other family members. This was more than living room entertinment to me. This was my dream unfolding before my eyes on the television screen. To be able to sing, sing for a global audience and also be recognized with that oh-so-cool award, now that was bliss. I would watch the Grammy’s awards every year, unless I just forgot about it. I have enjoyed, over the years, seeing performers like Madonna, Bee Gees, Elton John, Phil Collins, Michael Jackson….I’ve seen them … enjoyed them … wanted to be them..or at least be doing what they were doing.

I have spent my entire life learning the steps necessary to win a Grammy,..First, you need to be nominated, before that you need to be submitted, before that, you need to write and record and distribute an album, before that you need to find a good producer who knows what to do with your music and your voice, before that, you need to try to write some songs, before that you need to be singing and performing all the time, before that, you need to learn what orgnaizations are around to help you, before that, you need to love music and before that, and most important of all, you need to believe you can do it.

i’m a believer.
